Invisalign Tray Care: How To Keep Your Invisalign Looking Fresh
Invisalign® clear aligner therapy is an exceptional method of orthodontic treatment. They are discreet, effective, and removable, making them a popular alternative to traditional metal braces. However, to keep your Invisalign trays looking fresh, follow these Invisalign tray care tips:
1. Remove Your Invisalign When You Eat
Invisalign trays are designed to be removed for short periods of time while eating and drinking. To keep them looking clear and smelling fresh, be sure to take your Invisalign aligners out at mealtimes. You can keep them in when drinking water. But don’t forget to put them back in! Invisalign is only effective when worn 20–22 hours per day.
2. Brush and Floss After Mealtimes
On that same note, brushing and flossing after you eat will ensure that food particles don’t get stuck in your Invisalign when you pop them back in. Food debris trapped in your aligner trays is a recipe for unpleasant odors and discoloration, so don’t skip this step in your routine!
3. Clean Your Trays Regularly
Cleaning your Invisalign trays often is key to keeping them as pristine as possible. When bacteria or plaque builds up on the trays, they can get a bit grimy. Abrasive cleaning tools or pastes can damage or warp your trays, so use a soft-bristled brush and a gentle toothpaste that won’t scratch the surface of your Invisalign.
4. Store Your Invisalign Properly When Not in Use
When you temporarily remove your Invisalign, only store them in their proper case. This will prevent them from getting discolored, damaged, or accidentally tossed in the trash can.
